Lena Hartley

Hi, I am Lena

I’m Lena Hartley—a lifelong maker, creative storyteller, and the heart behind County Needlecraft. I grew up in a small, craft-loving town where handmade living was simply part of everyday life. I learned to sew from my grandmother, explored home décor projects with my mother, and discovered early on how fulfilling it feels to create something beautiful with my own hands.

What started as a quiet hobby slowly grew into my passion and eventually my purpose. Over the years, I experimented with needlecraft, home styling, upcycling, and natural-texture crafts. Along the way, my love for calm, simple, handcrafted living became impossible to ignore. That’s when I decided to create County Needlecraft—a space where I could share my projects, ideas, and inspiration with people who feel the same joy in making things.

Today, I focus on designing tutorials that are approachable, relaxing, and deeply satisfying to complete. My style blends soft, natural textures with warm, minimal design—pieces that bring a sense of peace and personality to any home. Whether I’m stitching a linen coaster, weaving a small wall hanging, or rearranging a cozy reading nook, crafting is my way of slowing down and reconnecting with what feels meaningful.

Through County Needlecraft, I share step-by-step projects, DIY home décor ideas, and creative inspiration for anyone who wants to make their home more personal through handmade touches. My hope is to make crafting feel accessible—something anyone can enjoy, whether they’re picking up a needle for the first time or rediscovering an old hobby.

When I’m not crafting, you can usually find me visiting local artisan markets, gathering natural materials for future projects, or photographing textures that spark new ideas. I live in a quiet countryside home where my craft table is always a happy mess of linen scraps, wool threads, sketches, and half-finished creations.
With every tutorial I share, I hope to encourage others to embrace creativity—not as something that must be perfect, but as something that brings joy, calm, and warmth into everyday life.
