Burke Lake Park Marina

Burke Lake Park's centerpiece is a 218-acre lake with 5.25 miles of fishing shoreline, four fishing bulkheads at the state game area, a new fishing pier, and a boat launching dock. Both the fishing bulkheads and the fishing pier are accessible to persons with disabilities. A 4.68 trail surrounds the lake starting at the marina parking lot.

Burke Lake Disc Golf

Burke Lake Park is home to one of the oldest disc golf courses in Virginia. The park’s course was built in 1979 and goes through rolling hills and a forested area. The professional course has 18 holes and is a par 3 disc golf course. The park also has a practice putting basket. Burke Lake Park rents discs to park goers from the information center.

Burke Lake Fields

Burke Lake Park has multiple fields that can be used by all for a wide variety of outdoor activities. The fields can be used for organized games, outdoor sports, picnicking, observation of nature, kite flying, walking your pets, and much more! If you’re lucky you can catch a glimpse of our Train and wave as it passes by. Please note grilling is not permitted in any of our open fields. If you intend to grill please do so in our Picnic Loop. Come out and enjoy the endless possibilities!

Burke Lake Playgrounds

Burke Lake Park has four different colourful playgrounds in the park. They are located next to Shelter A, Shelter C, the Ice Cream Parlour, and in the campground. The playgrounds have slides and other fun activities for kids! All playgrounds are within close proximity to a restroom. Campground playground for camper use only.

Trails

Across America, the word is out - Burke Lake Park boasts one of the 10 best fitness trails in the nation. That’s the assessment of the American Hiking Society, after its trail specialists hiked high and low to find top 10 candidates in or near a major metropolitan area (close enough to use before or after work or on lunch hours) with portions that can be completed in 60-90 minutes.

Burke Lake Park Fishing

Come fish at Burke Lake. Try your luck at fishing for largemouth bass, walleye, muskie, catfish, black crappie, yellow and white perch, sunfish, and bluegill. Rent a boat for the day to fish and explore the entirety of the 218-acre lake. Nightcrawlers, chicken liver, clam snout, shrimp, squid, and tackle are available for purchase at the bait house when the marina is open. People of all ages enjoy the wonderful fishing at Burke Lake Park. Patrons 16 and older are required to have a Virginia fishing license.

Burke Lake Boating

Come paddle around on our 218-acre lake! You can rent a boat from us or bring your own. At our bait house, you can rent a rowboat, a canoe, a motorboat (a rowboat equipped with an electric trolling motor attached to a battery on the back), or a fishing kayak. To be eligible to rent a boat, an individual must be 16 years or older, possess a photo ID, and must be aboard the rental boat at all times. Three persons maximum on all boats. Pets are not permitted on rental or our tour boat.

Burke Lake Ice Cream Parlor

Visit the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor! The Parlor is stocked with delicious ice cream in several flavors, snacks, and drinks. Shelter D is nearby, so the Ice Cream Parlor is the perfect place to host a birthday party or small gathering. It's located near the train station, mini-golf, and a playground, so it's the ideal spot to cool down and relax after a fun day at Burke Lake Park.

Burke Lake Volleyball

Four courts are available for reservation, (two of the courts are currently unavailable as they are under construction) if courts are unrented they can be used on a first come, first serve basis. The courts are located in the picnic loop. For reservations, please call (703) 324-8732 or visit our website. Hourly rental fee: $20.00Hourly rental fee w/paid picnic reservation: $15.00

Burke Lake Geocaching & Orienteering

See a different side of Burke Lake Park and learn or practice your old and new school skills. Burke Lake has 3 Orienteering Courses (Beginner—Behind the Info Center, Intermediate—Begins at the end of the beginner Couse, Advanced- Course is in the Wilderness Area), a boy scout built GPS Course and many hidden Geocaches! Pick up maps for orienteering from the Information Center.
