Humphreys, 86, former owner of the White Water Mills textile firm of Bos-1 ton, died Saturday at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Mr. Humphreys, who wintered at Siesta Key, Sarasota, was born in Pittsburgh.

He was a graduate of St. Paul's School, Concord, N.H. and Princeton University, Class of 1913. In both schools he was known as an outstanding athlete in varsity competition. His main interests were hunting, fishing, and boating.

During World War I he served with the US Naval Reserve. Mr. Humphreys retired from the textile business at the close of World War II. He leaves two daughters, Hope H. Trench of New Canaan, and Kip Requardt of Oxford, two sisters, Mrs.
